Senior Android Engineer

Delivery Hero is hiring a Senior Android Engineer to join our engineering team in Athens, Greece—working remotely. This is a full-time opportunity for an experienced Android developer ready to lead technical initiatives on our mobile platform.

Role Overview

As a Senior Android Engineer at Delivery Hero, you'll own critical features and systems within our Android application, shaping the experience for millions of users globally. You'll lead architectural decisions, drive technical excellence, and mentor junior engineers whilst collaborating across product, design, and backend teams to deliver scalable, high-impact solutions.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop production-grade Android applications using Kotlin, Java, and modern frameworks
• Lead the architecture and technical implementation of new features and platform improvements
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and backend engineers to translate requirements into robust solutions
• Conduct code reviews, establish best practices, and mentor junior Android developers
• Optimise application performance, stability, and user experience through continuous improvement and testing
• Diagnose and resolve complex technical issues whilst maintaining reliability and quality standards

What We're Looking For

• Substantial experience developing and shipping production Android applications
• Proficiency with Kotlin and/or Java for Android development
• Deep knowledge of Android architecture, lifecycle, and platform capabilities
• Solid understanding of RESTful APIs and backend service integration
• Familiarity with modern testing frameworks, CI/CD practices, and version control
• Strong problem-solving skills and a commitment to writing clean, maintainable code
• Excellent communication abilities and experience working within distributed teams
