Position Summary
Wabtec is seeking a Senior Software Engineer with expertise across full-stack development and emerging generative AI technologies. You'll architect and implement scalable applications, mentor junior engineers, and drive innovation in AI-powered features that enhance our platform capabilities. This role offers the opportunity to work on mission-critical systems serving global markets whilst leveraging cutting-edge machine learning techniques.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and optimise full-stack applications using modern frameworks and cloud technologies
- Architect scalable backend services and frontend interfaces that integrate seamlessly with generative AI capabilities
- Evaluate and integrate large language models and AI services into production environments
- Conduct code reviews, establish development standards, and mentor team members
- Collaborate with product and data science teams to define requirements and deliver AI-enhanced features
- Troubleshoot complex technical challenges and continuously improve system performance
- Contribute to technical documentation and knowledge sharing within the engineering team
Skills & Qualifications
- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, with demonstrated expertise in full-stack development
- Strong proficiency in at least one backend language (Python, Java, Go, or Node.js) and modern frontend technologies
- Proven experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure) and containerisation technologies
- Hands-on experience integrating or working with generative AI models, LLMs, or similar AI services
- Solid understanding of software architecture, system design, and scalability principles
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and strong communication skills
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent professional experience
