Lead Data Engineer

Carrier is seeking a Lead Data Engineer to join our engineering team based in Hyderabad, at Building No: 12C, Floor 9,10,11, Building No: 12B -Stilt floor, Raheja Mindspace, Cyberabad, Madhapur. This is a full-time opportunity to lead data initiatives and drive architectural excellence within our growing organization.

About the Role

As Lead Data Engineer at Carrier in Hyderabad, you will own the design, development, and implementation of scalable data platforms and pipelines. Working from our Mindspace location in Cyberabad, you'll mentor engineering talent, establish best practices, and collaborate across teams to deliver data solutions that power business decisions. This leadership role combines hands-on technical work with strategic oversight of our data infrastructure and architecture.

Responsibilities

• Design and build robust, scalable data pipelines and infrastructure serving organisational analytics and reporting needs
• Lead technical architecture decisions for data systems, ensuring reliability, performance, and maintainability
• Mentor and guide junior engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous learning
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including analytics, product, and operations to understand and address data requirements
• Establish coding standards, testing practices, and deployment processes for data engineering teams
• Troubleshoot data quality issues and implement monitoring solutions to maintain system health
• Evaluate and integrate new technologies and tools to enhance data platform capabilities

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Data Engineer or similar role, with a track record of designing and delivering production data systems
• Deep expertise in one or more data processing technologies (e.g., Apache Spark, Flink, or equivalent streaming/batch frameworks)
• Strong proficiency in Python, Java, Scala, or similar languages used in data engineering
• Experience building and maintaining data warehouses, data lakes, or modern cloud data platforms
• Solid understanding of SQL, data modelling, and ETL/ELT processes
• Demonstrated leadership capability and experience mentoring technical teams
• Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and data-related services
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
