Role Overview

The LEAD Program – EHS is a full-time position designed for emerging safety professionals committed to building careers in environmental, health, and safety management. Working at Wabtec's Erie facility, you'll partner with experienced EHS leaders to gain practical knowledge in hazard control, safety procedures, regulatory compliance, and risk assessment within a dynamic manufacturing environment. This role offers structured mentorship and real-world experience across one of the transportation industry's most critical operational areas.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • Conduct workplace safety inspections and audits to identify hazards and compliance gaps
  • Assist in developing, implementing, and communicating safety policies and standard operating procedures
  • Support incident investigations, root cause analysis, and preventive action documentation
  • Collaborate with production and operations teams to ensure adherence to OSHA regulations and company safety standards
  • Participate in and help coordinate employee safety training, toolbox talks, and awareness initiatives
  • Monitor EHS performance metrics, analyze trends, and report findings to leadership
  • Support environmental compliance programs, waste management, and sustainability efforts

Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Safety, Engineering, or related discipline
  • Strong foundational knowledge of workplace safety regulations and industry best practices
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and all organizational levels
  • Attention to detail and commitment to continuous improvement and safety culture
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and capability to learn enterprise software systems
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to work on-site in Erie, Pennsylvania
