Position Summary

As Quality Engineer IV at Wabtec in Buffalo Grove, you'll take on a senior quality assurance role responsible for developing and implementing quality strategies that ensure product excellence and regulatory compliance. In this level-IV engineering position, you'll combine technical depth with leadership responsibility, overseeing quality processes, mentoring junior team members, and driving continuous improvement across manufacturing and design operations.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and oversee comprehensive quality assurance testing protocols and methodologies
• Lead root cause analysis investigations on product defects and quality escapes, implementing corrective actions
• Mentor and supervise quality engineering team members and coordinate with cross-functional departments
• Establish and monitor quality metrics, standards, and key performance indicators to track compliance and improvement
• Review engineering specifications and manufacturing processes to identify quality risks and improvement opportunities
• Document quality findings, prepare technical reports, and present recommendations to senior management
• Ensure adherence to industry regulations, quality standards, and company quality policies

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality Assurance, or a related technical discipline
• 7+ years of professional experience in quality engineering, quality assurance, or related field
• Demonstrated expertise in quality methodologies such as Six Sigma, Lean, or ISO standards
• Strong technical knowledge of testing procedures, statistical analysis, and defect tracking systems
• Experience mentoring engineers and managing quality initiatives across team environments
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
• Proficiency with quality management systems and relevant software tools
