Senior Software Engineer

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential public safety technology organization seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join their Forensic Intelligence team in London. In this role, you will:

• Take ownership of building and delivering advanced video forensics capabilities, including media processing pipelines, forensic playback systems, investigation tooling, and video format research and development
• Design systems that span multiple applications and services, ensuring they scale effectively, remain operable, and evolve gracefully over time
• Drive cross-team design reviews to ensure consistent technical quality and alignment across independently operating teams
• Transform contradictory, incomplete, or ambiguous requirements into coherent technical direction that guides team execution
• Continuously raise the team's quality bar through design reviews, implementing engineering best practices, and leading by example
• Mentor junior and senior engineers through technical and execution guidance, growing the team's depth and independence
• Communicate technical direction to leadership and engage across the organization on architectural decisions and collaboration opportunities

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience
• Demonstrated track record of mentoring engineers across multiple levels and raising the technical standards of a team or organization
• Strong engineering and architecture fundamentals across multiple programming languages, with breadth across the technology stack
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences
• Proven ability to drive alignment across distributed teams
• Capability to translate high-level concepts and customer needs into tangible deliverables working collaboratively with your team
• Desirable: Experience with video or media processing, codecs, streaming, or format analysis
• Desirable: Experience with Azure cloud services and modern languages including TypeScript/React,.NET, Python, Java, or C/C++

This is a hybrid position based in London, with onsite work required Tuesday through Friday and flexibility to work remotely on Mondays.
