Course Director: UX, UI, and AI

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential global education organization seeking an experienced Course Director to shape the future of UX, UI, and AI education. This role offers the rare opportunity to decide what hundreds of thousands of designers learn next and to work directly with industry leaders whose expertise will reach learners worldwide.

You'll lead decisions on curriculum development, identify subject matter experts, and oversee course production from concept through completion. This is a fully remote position requiring 10+ years of hands-on design experience and a passion for teaching designers to thrive in the age of AI.

Responsibilities

• Lead curriculum strategy by researching emerging trends in design and AI, identifying gaps in existing education, and determining what skills designers need to succeed
• Identify and recruit industry experts to teach courses and Master Classes, building relationships with leading designers and convincing them to contribute their expertise
• Plan and produce educational content alongside subject matter experts, deciding what each course must teach and ensuring learners finish with portfolio-ready projects
• Review and provide constructive feedback on course outlines created by education designers, identifying what's missing, what doesn't belong, and how to improve structure
• Produce approximately three Master Classes per month, from initial outreach through live session recording
• Travel several times per year to professional studios worldwide to shoot course content with industry leaders
• Act as guardian of quality standards, ensuring every course published exceeds what's currently available on the topic
• Collaborate with video production teams, providing feedback on graphics, animation, and on-screen text to ensure accuracy and engagement
• Analyze completion rates, learner feedback, and portfolio outcomes to continuously improve published courses
• Maintain clear documentation so internal teams can access up-to-date knowledge resources
• Advise on AI-powered learning features, including personalized learning paths and automated feedback systems

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications:

• Minimum 10 years of hands-on design experience (more is welcomed)
• Network among respected designers and comfort reaching out to accomplished professionals
• Ability to transform complex design practices into step-by-step learning sequences for beginners
• Strong track record building or leading something significant: a product, design team, course, or conference track
• Fluency in written and spoken English with ability to explain complex ideas clearly
• Experience collaborating with AI tools to research, structure, write, and create more efficiently
• Social intelligence and empathy to engage effectively with diverse personalities
• Self-motivation with comfort working independently and taking ownership of outcomes
• Ability to give constructive feedback that colleagues can act on without becoming defensive
• Willingness to travel a few times per year for course production
• Location in time zones between UTC-6 and UTC+8 (Americas through Asia)

Bonus Qualifications:

• Experience leading design teams
• Published writing on design: articles, books, educational material, or active social media presence
• Conference speaking experience or connections with regular speakers
• Design system creation experience
• Background in editing or online course creation
• Graphic design skills for creating image-based and interactive content
• Experience building AI-supported learning tools
• Bachelor's or master's degree in UX, UI, HCI, AI, or related field
• Previous collaboration with video production teams
