Senior Financial Systems Architect – Workday

About This Opportunity

Our talent team is representing a confidential medical technology organization in their search for a Senior Financial Systems Architect specializing in Workday. This is a technical ownership role where you'll take full responsibility for a Workday Financials implementation currently in its hypercare phase, scheduled to go live in November 2026.

This position is based in Berlin and offers the opportunity to own a production ERP system end-to-end, working at the intersection of finance, accounting, and systems architecture.

Responsibilities

As the technical owner of the Workday Financials tenant, you will:

• Take over technical ownership from the implementation partner and bring run responsibility in-house post-go-live
• Configure and maintain business processes across General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Banking & Settlement modules
• Design, build, and own the Workday side of approximately twelve system integrations using EIBs, Core Connectors, Studio, web services, and RaaS reports
• Collaborate with data platform engineers to establish interface contracts and ensure reliable data flow
• Provide tier 2/3 support with root-cause analysis and resolution, treating the system with production-grade discipline
• Manage biannual Workday releases with proper testing protocols including unit, regression, and UAT
• Build custom reports, dashboards, and calculated fields for finance and leadership teams
• Advise accounting and finance stakeholders on system capabilities, translating requirements into technical designs
• Review and document implementation deliverables, closing gaps and hardening configurations
• Support the first year-end close and statutory audit in the new system
• Assess technical feasibility for future expansions including HCM, treasury, and automated reporting modules

What We're Looking For

Required qualifications:

• 5+ years hands-on experience with Workday Financials, including at least one full implementation cycle
• Post-go-live ownership experience including hypercare, period closes, and production support
• Deep configuration expertise in GL, AP, AR, Banking & Settlement, business process framework, and configurable security
• Strong knowledge of the financial data model (FDM, worktags)
• Experience building custom reports, matrix reports, calculated fields, and BIRT reports
• Systems thinking with demonstrated experience connecting SaaS platforms via APIs and integration patterns
• Solid understanding of accounting fundamentals: chart of accounts, period close, reconciliations, audit requirements
• Engineering mindset with structured troubleshooting, disciplined testing practices, and quality documentation habits
• Excellent English communication skills, able to translate technical concepts for both engineers and finance professionals

Preferred qualifications:

• Hands-on experience with Workday integration tools: EIBs, Core Connectors, Studio, web services, RaaS, XSLT
• German language proficiency
• Workday Pro certification in Financials or Integrations
• Multi-entity, multi-currency, or multi-GAAP experience (IFRS and local GAAP)
• Experience with tax and e-invoicing platforms
• Knowledge of Accounting Center, Prism Analytics, Extend, or Orchestrate
• Background in Workday consulting or Center of Excellence environments
• Formal accounting credentials or SOX/internal controls experience in a Workday context
