About This Opportunity
We are representing a confidential aerospace technology organization in München that is developing cutting-edge optical communication systems. Our talent team is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join their multidisciplinary engineering team working on precision optical assemblies.
Responsibilities
- Develop and design mechanical assemblies for optical communication terminals within a collaborative engineering environment
- Create and maintain assembly models throughout the complete product lifecycle
- Perform tolerancing and system verification activities
- Derive system and subsystem requirements while defining interfaces and mechanical envelopes
- Prepare comprehensive technical documentation including manufacturing specifications
- Conduct initial strength and modal analysis for component dimensioning
- Document design work and present results to project teams and during technical reviews
- Work independently with a high level of responsibility and ownership
What We're Looking For
- University degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or related technical field
- 5+ years of experience designing optomechanical systems with strong knowledge of design principles and tolerance analysis
- Demonstrated passion for developing technical solutions for high-precision applications in challenging operational environments
- Hands-on approach with willingness to build and test your own designs
- Deep understanding of manufacturing processes and design-for-manufacturability principles for serial production
- Solid grasp of design calculations and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T)
- Strong proficiency with 3D CAD software and PLM systems; experience with Siemens Teamcenter/NX is highly valued
- Results-oriented, reliable, and proactive working style with ability to work independently
- Strong organizational, communication, and documentation skills with collaborative team-player mentality
- Excellent written and spoken English communication abilities
- Enthusiasm for working in innovative, dynamic, and international team environments
