About This Opportunity
We are representing a confidential fusion energy organization developing next-generation power technology in Munich. Our talent team is seeking a Multiphysics Simulation Engineer to own critical simulation pipelines that define machine-level design requirements across tightly coupled systems including plasma physics, magnets, cryogenics, and structural engineering.
Responsibilities
- Own simulation pipelines end to end, from physics assumptions through machine-defining load cases that drive subsystem design
- Build finite-element models and reduced-order simulators from scratch, properly interfaced with the codebase
- Define interfaces with engineering teams, establishing what inputs are required, what outputs are delivered, and the scope of each model
- Execute parameter sweeps and simulation campaigns at scale to resolve machine-level tradeoffs before they are locked in
- Benchmark and validate models against analytical limits and experimental data, clearly defining model boundaries and trustworthiness thresholds
- Provide engineering design teams with validated load cases that form the foundation of hardware design decisions
What We're Looking For
- PhD or Master's degree in physics, engineering, or related field
- Proven experience in multiphysics analysis that directly drives hardware decisions in complex engineering environments such as space, accelerators, semiconductors, or aircraft
- Strong software engineering skills including Git, CI/CD, and the PyData stack—you ship production-quality code, not ad-hoc scripts
- Fluency with diverse computational tools from pen-and-paper derivations to commercial multiphysics packages, selecting methods based on the problem at hand
- Experience building automated, reproducible, and validated simulation pipelines
- Ability to navigate between different physics domains and complex 3D geometry
- Proactive problem identification, strong prioritization skills, and willingness to advocate for critical next steps
