Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential technology organisation building a stealth AI product in London. As a Senior Software Engineer, you will lead the development of major product surfaces and services, owning features end-to-end from initial design through to production operations.

In this role, you will:

• Drive product clarity in ambiguous environments by defining problems, shaping MVP scope, setting success metrics, and aligning stakeholders on delivery milestones
• Build and ship software using AI-native approaches across the full software development lifecycle, including planning, implementation, testing, code review, debugging, and operations
• Measure and improve delivery outcomes using engineering metrics such as lead time, PR throughput, defect rates, test coverage, and incident load
• Make pragmatic architecture decisions that balance speed with scalability, understanding when temporary solutions become permanent
• Establish and enforce engineering hygiene practices including testing strategy, CI/CD pipelines, observability, and sensible release practices
• Partner closely with product and design teams to prioritise and sequence high-value increments
• Mentor engineers and help establish a high-trust, high-ownership culture within the team

What We're Looking For

Our client seeks a builder who thrives in early-stage product development. The ideal candidate will have:

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience
• 7+ years of software development experience with ownership of production product capabilities
• Demonstrated AI-native delivery experience: consistent use of AI across the SDLC with concrete examples of accelerated delivery whilst maintaining or improving quality
• Strong engineering judgement under uncertainty and the ability to simplify complex problems
• Experience building cloud-native services and modern user experiences that scale
• Comfort working across boundaries including product, design, customers, and platform dependencies
• Product judgement sufficient to frame problems, define MVP scope, make trade-offs, and drive measurable customer outcomes

Preferred qualifications include:

• Startup or internal incubation experience
• Experience integrating AI/LLM capabilities into product experiences responsibly
• Track record of accelerating teams through strong technical leadership
• Experience operating in PM-light environments where engineers help drive prioritisation and discovery alongside delivery

This position is based in London and follows a hybrid schedule with in-office attendance Tuesday through Friday and remote work flexibility on Mondays.
