About This Position

The Dorothy Kern Cancer Center in Fremont relies on skilled RN professionals to provide comprehensive, evidence-based care to medical oncology patients. As a registered nurse in this specialized setting, you'll work alongside oncologists, social workers, and support staff to ensure each patient receives personalized treatment and symptom management throughout their care plan.

Responsibilities

• Assess and monitor patients receiving chemotherapy and other cancer treatments, including vital signs, symptom management, and adverse event reporting
• Administer medications and infusions under physician direction, following oncology-specific protocols and safety standards
• Educate patients and families about treatment options, side effect management, and self-care strategies
• Develop and implement individualized care plans in collaboration with the interdisciplinary oncology team
• Document patient progress, clinical observations, and nursing interventions in the electronic health record
• Maintain infection control and safety standards in the cancer center environment
• Provide emotional support and coordinate resources for patients managing cancer-related physical and psychological challenges

Skills & Qualifications

• Current, valid RN license in the state of practice
• Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking abilities
• Excellent communication and patient education skills
• Compassion and emotional resilience when working with cancer patients and families
• Proficiency with electronic health records and medical equipment
• Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
• Oncology nursing experience or certification preferred
