About This Position

The Senior Rust Developer - Security Focus (all genders) post at Xibix in Porto centres on creating and refining memory-safe applications where security is a first-class design concern. You will work onsite in Porto, applying advanced Rust idioms to real-world security challenges while shaping technical direction within a collaborative engineering culture. The position calls for seasoned judgment, clear communication, and a commitment to producing reliable, well-documented code that withstands rigorous scrutiny.

Core Duties

• Architect, implement and evolve critical software modules written in Rust with explicit attention to safety and adversarial resilience
• Perform threat modelling, secure design reviews and systematic code analysis to identify and eliminate vulnerabilities early
• Develop and maintain reusable security-oriented libraries and patterns that the wider team can adopt
• Partner with neighbouring engineering groups to embed defensive techniques into product roadmaps
• Guide less experienced colleagues through Rust ownership rules, concurrency models and secure coding standards
• Document design decisions, security rationale and operational guidance for long-term maintainability

Requirements

• Demonstrable senior-level practical experience of professional software delivery using the Rust language
• Solid track record of security-centric development, including memory-safety guarantees, cryptographic building blocks and systematic defence against common attack classes
• Deep command of systems-level programming concepts, ownership and borrowing, asynchronous patterns and low-level performance trade-offs
• Ability to articulate security trade-offs, produce clear technical prose and thrive in a structured, on-site team environment in Porto
• Comfort mentoring peers and raising overall engineering hygiene around secure Rust practice
