Equinox is hiring an Assistant General Manager for our San Francisco, CA location. This full-time leadership opportunity is ideal for an experienced operations professional ready to advance into general management at one of the nation's premier luxury fitness clubs.
About This Position
The Assistant General Manager works closely with the General Manager to oversee daily operations at our San Francisco club. You'll lead and develop team members across fitness, service, and administrative functions while ensuring every member experiences the premium service Equinox is known for. This role balances operational oversight with member-facing leadership, making it a natural stepping stone into general management.
Key Responsibilities
- Support supervision and coaching of fitness staff, including personal trainers, group fitness instructors, front desk, and membership teams
- Maintain Equinox operational standards for facility cleanliness, equipment maintenance, and member experience
- Participate in member retention strategies and respond professionally to member feedback and concerns
- Contribute to budget oversight, cost management, and revenue optimization
- Coordinate staff scheduling, training initiatives, and team-building activities
- Support member acquisition and engagement programming across the club
- Monitor key performance indicators and report metrics to club leadership
Skills & Qualifications
- 2+ years of management or supervisory experience in fitness, hospitality, service, or related industry
- Strong leadership and team development capabilities
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment
- Customer service orientation and conflict resolution expertise
- Familiarity with fitness industry operations and member experience practices (preferred)
- Proficiency with club management software and standard business applications
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
