AI Innovation Engineer

About This Opportunity

Our talent team is representing a confidential technology consulting organization seeking an AI Innovation Engineer to join their growing team. This is a fully remote, full-time position open to candidates across the United States.

This role sits at the intersection of applied research and production engineering, where you'll design and deploy advanced machine learning systems that drive meaningful business outcomes. You'll combine scientific rigor with practical software engineering skills to build robust, scalable ML pipelines from conception through deployment.

Responsibilities

• Bridge cutting-edge applied research with production engineering to solve high-impact business problems
• Design, train, and deploy advanced machine learning and deep learning systems at scale
• Build robust, scalable, and well-instrumented production ML pipelines
• Stay current with the rapidly evolving AI research landscape and evaluate new techniques for real-world applicability
• Take ML models from research prototype through production deployment with appropriate observability and safeguards
• Frame problems, conduct experimentation, and drive continuous improvement across the full ML lifecycle
• Collaborate across teams to ship impactful applied AI projects

What We're Looking For

Required qualifications:

• Master's or PhD in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Statistics, or closely related field; or equivalent applied experience
• 6+ years of combined research and applied ML engineering experience
• Strong proficiency in Python and modern ML frameworks (PyTorch or JAX)
• Hands-on experience training, fine-tuning, and evaluating deep learning models at non-trivial scale
• Solid grounding in mathematics, statistics, and theoretical foundations of modern ML
• Experience taking ML models from research prototype to production with appropriate observability and safeguards
• Familiarity with distributed training, mixed-precision training, and accelerator hardware
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with ability to explain complex methods clearly
• Demonstrated ability to read, evaluate, and adapt techniques from current research literature
• Track record of shipping impactful applied AI projects

Preferred qualifications:

• Published research at top-tier AI/ML venues
• Experience with large language model training, fine-tuning, or evaluation
• Familiarity with retrieval-augmented generation, agentic systems, or multimodal architectures
• Exposure to responsible AI, model evaluation, and alignment practices
• Experience contributing to open-source ML projects

Pay

Pay via Get A Job.ai: $135,000–$210,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications.
