About the Role
As a Registered Nurse in hospice care, you'll provide direct nursing support during scheduled on-call periods to patients and their families. Your expertise will be essential in managing comfort, symptom management, and compassionate end-of-life care. The 7 on 7 off rotation provides dedicated shifts followed by scheduled time off, allowing you to maintain work-life balance while delivering exceptional patient care throughout the Kansas City area.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Assess patient conditions and vital signs, documenting changes in status and communicating updates to the interdisciplinary care team
- Manage medication administration and pain control protocols to ensure patient comfort
- Provide wound care, catheter management, and other skilled nursing interventions as needed
- Educate patients and family members on comfort measures and end-of-life care
- Respond to patient and family concerns with clinical expertise and emotional support
- Coordinate care transitions and collaborate with physicians, social workers, and other team members
- Maintain detailed clinical records and ensure compliance with regulatory standards
Qualifications
- Current Registered Nurse license in the state of Missouri
- Commitment to patient-centered, compassionate care philosophy
- Strong communication and clinical assessment skills
- Ability to work independently during on-call shifts and manage clinical decision-making
- Experience in hospice or end-of-life care is preferred
- Flexibility to work the scheduled 7 on 7 off rotation
