Registered Nurse (RN), On Call 7 On 7 Off Hospice

Phoenix Home Care and Hospice is seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) to provide compassionate on-call hospice care in Springfield, Missouri. This full-time position on our 7 on, 7 off schedule offers the opportunity to make a meaningful difference during patients' most important moments.

Role Overview

You'll deliver specialized nursing care to hospice patients in the Springfield area, working a rotating 7 days on, 7 days off schedule. This role combines clinical expertise with genuine compassion, supporting patients and their families through end-of-life care with dignity and comfort-focused attention. As an on-call RN in this hospice setting, you'll be instrumental in ensuring each patient receives individualized care aligned with their values and comfort goals.

Your Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive patient assessments to evaluate physical, emotional, and spiritual needs
• Administer medications and manage pain and symptom control according to physician orders and care plans
• Monitor patient status, vital signs, and clinical changes; document findings thoroughly in medical records
• Communicate with patients, family members, and the interdisciplinary team about treatment progress and care adjustments
• Provide direct nursing care including wound management, personal hygiene assistance, and comfort measures
• Educate patients and caregivers about their hospice services, medication side effects, and what to expect
• Respond to urgent patient needs and coordinate with physicians and other team members for timely interventions

What We're Looking For

• Active Missouri RN license
• Clinical nursing experience in hospice, palliative care, acute care, or similar direct patient care settings
• Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking abilities
• Excellent communication skills with patients, families, and healthcare professionals
• Genuine compassion and ability to provide emotional support to patients and their loved ones
• Commitment to working independently while collaborating with an interdisciplinary hospice team
• Reliability and flexibility to consistently work the 7 on, 7 off on-call rotation
