JH Assistant Cheerleading Coach – Football and Basketball seasons

About This Position

This full-time assistant coaching role focuses on cheerleading development during football and basketball competition seasons. Working alongside the head coach, you'll lead skill training programs, choreograph game-day routines, and build a strong athletic foundation for junior high cheerleaders. Your work directly influences student achievement, team performance, and the school's athletics culture.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise cheerleading practice sessions with emphasis on technique mastery, safety standards, and progressive skill development
• Design and teach competitive cheer routines timed to football and basketball game schedules
• Monitor athlete conditioning, fitness progress, and physical conditioning throughout both seasons
• Collaborate with head coach on practice planning, performance preparation, and roster management
• Maintain cheerleading equipment, uniforms, and practice facilities in safe, organized condition
• Communicate with student athletes, families, and athletic department on team updates and expectations
• Enforce team conduct standards and reinforce district sportsmanship policies

Skills & Qualifications

• Must obtain or currently hold all certifications required by the Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA)
• Prior coaching or competitive cheerleading experience in a structured athletic setting
• Strong foundation in cheerleading techniques, stunting safety, and evidence-based training methods
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with adolescent athletes and families
• Proven ability to motivate students while maintaining rigorous performance and conduct expectations
• Understanding of OHSAA regulations, district athletic policies, and compliance requirements
• Organized, detail-oriented approach to managing season logistics and multi-task coaching responsibilities
