Position Summary
We're seeking a dedicated Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) to work in collaboration with our licensed Physical Therapists, providing direct patient care and therapeutic interventions in home-based and hospice environments across the Sedalia area. As a PTA at Phoenix Home Care and Hospice, you'll be essential to our mission of delivering high-quality rehabilitation services that support patients' independence, comfort, and recovery goals.
What You'll Do
- Perform therapeutic exercises, stretching, and mobility training under the direction of a supervising Physical Therapist
- Assist patients with functional activities including transfers, balance training, and gait training to restore independence
- Document patient progress and responses to therapy in medical records
- Educate patients and caregivers on proper techniques, home exercise programs, and safety considerations
- Maintain equipment and ensure clean, safe treatment environments in patients' homes
- Communicate regularly with the Physical Therapist, interdisciplinary team, and patients' families regarding treatment progress
- Adapt care plans to meet the unique needs of patients in home and hospice care settings
Who We're Looking For
- Current licensure or certification as a Physical Therapist Assistant in Missouri
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with compassion for patients across all care levels
- Ability to work independently in diverse home environments while maintaining clinical standards
- Physical capability to safely perform patient handling, transfers, and standing while delivering therapy
- Reliable transportation and willingness to travel throughout the Sedalia service area
- Commitment to patient dignity, privacy, and delivering person-centered care
- Proficiency with electronic health records systems
