Senior Manager, Software Engineering – (Logistics, Time Estimations)

We're seeking a Senior Manager, Software Engineering focused on Logistics and Time Estimations to lead our engineering efforts at Delivery Hero in Berlin. This is a remote, full-time role where you'll drive technical strategy and team excellence for one of the world's largest food delivery platforms.

The Opportunity

As Senior Manager of Software Engineering in our Logistics and Time Estimations domain, you'll own the technical direction and team performance of critical systems that power delivery performance across Delivery Hero's global operations. You'll lead a talented engineering team, partner with product and operations stakeholders, and influence how we estimate delivery times, optimise logistics networks, and ensure reliable service for millions of users. As part of our Berlin-based team, you'll help shape the future of delivery logistics through innovative engineering.

Your Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a high-performing engineering team, fostering a culture of technical excellence, collaboration, and continuous learning
• Define and execute technical strategy for logistics and time estimation systems, ensuring scalability, reliability, and performance
• Drive architectural decisions and system design that support complex delivery logistics requirements across multiple markets
• Partner with product, data science, and operations teams to translate business requirements into technical roadmaps
• Own hiring, mentorship, and career development for direct reports and the broader engineering organisation
• Establish engineering standards, best practices, and processes that maintain code quality and system stability
• Balance short-term delivery needs with long-term technical health and platform sustainability

Requirements

• 10+ years of software engineering experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership or senior management role
• Proven track record managing and scaling distributed engineering teams in fast-paced, high-growth environments
• Strong foundation in modern software architecture, including microservices, distributed systems, and cloud-native technologies
• Experience with logistics, delivery, or marketplace platforms is highly valued
• Demonstrated ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders and translate complex technical concepts for non-technical audiences
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a genuine commitment to developing talent
• Based in or willing to work in the Berlin timezone, with the flexibility required for a distributed team environment
