Director, Fund Administration (Accounting)

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential financial services organization that is scaling a high-impact fund administration practice. This Director-level role offers the chance to build and lead an emerging talent program while overseeing critical accounting deliverables for institutional clients. You'll report to senior leadership and play a pivotal role in shaping the function as it grows.

Responsibilities

• Build, hire, and lead a team of fund accountants across various experience levels, including individual contributors and managers
• Forecast hiring needs and manage staffing capacity in partnership with leadership
• Onboard and train team members on fund accounting principles and internal procedures; guide them through proficiency certification
• Conduct performance reviews and provide ongoing coaching and feedback to direct reports
• Oversee fund administration service delivery, ensuring accurate and timely deliverables within defined scope
• Serve as the escalation point for complex accounting questions and challenging client situations
• Monitor customer health and maintain strong client relationships
• Manage invoice collection and contract maintenance with customers
• Drive initiatives to improve team efficiency and productivity, including collaboration on technology and automation improvements
• Maintain robust controls around deliverables and evolve control frameworks as the team scales
• Oversee the year-end audit process
• Identify opportunities for new service offerings based on client requests
• Partner with enablement teams to enhance training processes and learning content
• Design and execute initiatives to improve team satisfaction based on engagement survey results

What We're Looking For

• 12+ years of fund accounting experience in private equity, venture capital, real estate, and/or hedge funds
• Prior experience working at a fund administrator is required
• 5+ years of experience hiring, managing, and developing teams of fund accountants, including entry-level professionals
• Demonstrated passion for developing and training early-career talent
• Strong client and relationship management skills with a track record of driving outcomes
• Operational mindset with focus on building repeatable, scalable processes
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Proven ability to build relationships across all organizational levels
• Comfort with ambiguity; self-starter with entrepreneurial spirit and inclusive attitude

Pay

Pay via Get A Job.ai for U.S.-based candidates: $180,000–$200,000 USD base salary. For Canadian candidates: $170,000–$190,000 CAD base salary. Actual compensation will be based on your experience, skillset, and location. This role also includes bonus, equity, and comprehensive benefits.
