Cyber Security Engineer – Automation

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential media technology organization in their search for a Cyber Security Engineer - Automation. This is a hands-on engineering role for someone who can build practical security automations using Python, GitHub Actions, and cloud infrastructure. You'll work alongside experienced security and platform teams to reduce manual effort and scale security controls through code.

Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

• Build and maintain Python scripts, CLIs, and API integrations that automate security operations tasks such as evidence collection, configuration checks, alert enrichment, and remediation workflows
• Write unit tests, implement proper logging and error handling, and create clear documentation for all automation work
• Contribute to repositories using pull requests, code review, and issue tracking while maintaining dependency hygiene
• Create and maintain GitHub Actions workflows for linting, testing, scanning, packaging, and deployment
• Read, update, and test Terraform modules and help identify insecure cloud configuration patterns
• Work with core AWS services including IAM, VPC, CloudTrail, CloudWatch, S3, Lambda, EC2, and Secrets Manager
• Automate cloud inventory, access reviews, configuration validation, and security findings triage
• Use approved AI tools responsibly to accelerate code exploration, test generation, and prototyping while validating all generated code
• Help develop narrowly scoped internal agents with appropriate human approval steps for impactful actions
• Partner with security, platform, cloud, and engineering teams to turn recurring problems into reliable automations
• Participate in incident follow-up, backlog refinement, and knowledge sharing

What We're Looking For

Required qualifications:

• Working proficiency in Python and REST APIs with ability to read, debug, and improve existing scripts
• Hands-on experience with Git and GitHub, plus familiarity with CI/CD concepts and GitHub Actions
• Fundamental understanding of AWS services, IAM, networking, logging, and infrastructure-as-code concepts
• Basic experience with Terraform or strong willingness to learn through hands-on repository work
• Comfort learning unfamiliar tools, asking technical questions, and documenting work clearly
• Security mindset with understanding of least privilege, secrets handling, code review, and change control

Preferred qualifications:

• Experience with security tooling, SIEM/SOAR, vulnerability management, ticketing, or cloud operations
• Exposure to container technologies, Docker, Kubernetes, or policy-as-code
• Experience using enterprise AI tools, LLM APIs, RAG, or agent frameworks in controlled environments
• AWS Cloud Practitioner, AWS Solutions Architect Associate, Security+, or comparable certifications
