Stormwater Engineer – NSW Residential Subdivision

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential Australian engineering consultancy seeking an experienced Stormwater Engineer to join their team on a remote basis. This is a full-time position working Australian business hours from the Philippines, focused on residential subdivision and building projects in New South Wales.

Our client specializes in compliant stormwater drainage solutions for residential developments including duplexes, townhouses, custom homes, and greenfield subdivisions. You'll be working directly with NSW council requirements and Australian Standards to deliver technical drainage designs and support development application processes.

Responsibilities

• Design stormwater systems for single dwellings, duplexes, and multi-dwelling residential developments
• Prepare drainage infrastructure for residential subdivisions including pit and pipe networks
• Develop Stormwater Management Plans (SWMP) compliant with NSW council Development Control Plan requirements
• Perform hydraulic modeling and runoff calculations in accordance with ARR 2019 standards
• Design On-Site Detention (OSD) systems including tank sizing and orifice calculations
• Prepare engineering drawings and documentation for Development Application and Construction Certificate submissions
• Ensure compliance with NCC, AS/NZS 3500, and relevant Australian Standards
• Coordinate with planners, surveyors, architects, and certifiers throughout project lifecycles
• Address construction-stage queries and respond to Requests for Information
• Align drainage layouts with easements, overland flow paths, and inter-allotment drainage requirements

What We're Looking For

Essential Requirements:

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering
• 5+ years of stormwater or civil drainage design experience
• Minimum 1–2 years of NSW residential subdivision experience (mandatory)
• Strong knowledge of NSW drainage and subdivision regulatory requirements
• Demonstrated experience liaising directly with NSW councils
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and Civil 3D
• Experience with hydraulic software such as DRAINS, MUSIC, or equivalent
• Strong understanding of overland flow paths and drainage compliance frameworks
• Excellent written documentation skills for council submission preparation
• Ability to work Australian business hours remotely from the Philippines

Highly Regarded:

• Knowledge of Sydney Water requirements and interfaces
• CPEng qualification
• Experience managing multiple residential projects simultaneously
• Familiarity with NSW certifier and council submission processes
• Understanding of Water Sensitive Urban Design (WSUD) principles
