QuickBooks Financial Controller

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential U.S.-based professional services organization seeking an experienced QuickBooks Financial Controller to lead their accounting operations remotely from Brazil. This is a full-time contractor role requiring advanced QuickBooks expertise and direct ownership of the general ledger.

Our client is transitioning from outsourced accounting to a fully in-house finance function and needs a hands-on controller who can configure systems, manage the complete month-end close process, and oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable specialists.

Responsibilities

• Configure and optimize QuickBooks to support accounting structure and reporting requirements
• Lead the transition of the general ledger from an outside accounting firm to in-house operations
• Maintain, reconcile, and close the books monthly with full ownership of the GL
• Establish and maintain the chart of accounts and classification standards
• Prepare accurate financial statements and profit & loss reports across business divisions
• Oversee bank reconciliations and monitor cash position
• Supervise accounts receivable and accounts payable specialists
• Review and approve invoices, hours reports, client statements, payroll, vendor payments, and expense submissions
• Coordinate payroll tax, sales tax, and 1099-related matters
• Maintain strong accounting controls and execute policies established by the CFO
• Interface with clients regarding accounting-related requests when required
• Support operational and non-accounting matters within a small-team environment

What We're Looking For

Required qualifications:

• Prior experience as a Financial Controller, Senior Accountant, or similar senior accounting role with full GL ownership
• Advanced, hands-on QuickBooks expertise with both QuickBooks Online and/or QuickBooks Desktop
• Professional experience configuring QuickBooks and/or leading a QuickBooks implementation
• Strong experience managing the general ledger, reconciliations, and month-end close
• Experience preparing financial statements and P&L reports
• Strong understanding of chart of accounts structures and accounting classifications
• Experience overseeing or working closely with AP and AR functions
• Exceptional attention to detail with consistently low error rates
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Ability to execute accounting policies and procedures with precision
• C1/C2 English proficiency, both written and spoken
• Ability to work with required overlap during U.S. business hours

Preferred qualifications:

• Experience transitioning an accounting function from external to in-house
• Experience with BigTime or similar project accounting software
• Previous experience in professional services, project-based businesses, or similar industries
• Experience supervising accounting or bookkeeping professionals

Compensation

Pay via Get A Job.ai: $2,000 – $4,000 USD per month, based on experience and location. This is a full-time contractor position with a short initial trial period to ensure mutual fit.

This is a fully remote opportunity requiring overlap with U.S. business hours.
