About This Opportunity

Our talent team is representing a confidential cybersecurity organization seeking participants for a Junior Penetration Tester Internship Program. This structured, eight-week remote program offers aspiring ethical hackers hands-on experience in vulnerability assessment and offensive security techniques. You'll work through progressive projects covering reconnaissance, system exploitation, web application security, network attacks, and post-exploitation strategies, culminating in a Capture The Flag challenge to demonstrate your skills.

Responsibilities

• Learn and apply penetration testing methodologies and techniques in structured lab environments
• Configure and maintain secure penetration testing labs and isolated work environments
• Conduct information gathering, vulnerability scanning, and network penetration assessments
• Perform web application security testing and system exploitation exercises
• Execute post-exploitation tasks and develop clear, actionable security reports
• Complete weekly projects and participate in a final Capture The Flag challenge
• Document findings professionally and present results to mentors

Educational Background:

• Degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or related field preferred but not required
• Demonstrated self-learning through certifications, personal projects, or cybersecurity challenges

Technical Foundation:

• Basic understanding of network protocols (TCP/IP, HTTP) and operating systems (Windows/Linux)
• Familiarity with Linux command-line tools and basic cybersecurity concepts (advantageous but not required)
• Basic scripting knowledge in Python, Bash, or similar languages

Desirable Certifications:

• TryHackMe Jr Penetration Tester Certificate
• eLearnSecurity Junior Penetration Tester (eJPT)
• CompTIA Pentest+ (optional for entry-level candidates)

Technical Tools:

• Hands-on experience with Kali Linux, Metasploit, Nmap, and Nikto
• Familiarity with web security platforms such as Burp Suite and OWASP ZAP
• Understanding of legal and ethical standards in penetration testing

Logistics:

• Access to a dedicated computer and stable internet connection
• Ability to set up secure, isolated testing environments (training provided)
