About This Opportunity
We are representing a confidential global SaaS organization seeking a Senior Payroll Specialist to join their team in Sydney, Australia. Our client is scaling rapidly across multiple international markets and requires a detail-oriented professional to support payroll operations across the Asia-Pacific region. This role sits at the heart of their finance and HR operations, ensuring accuracy and compliance for a distributed workforce spanning 25+ countries.
You'll work closely with finance and HR leadership on critical initiatives including systems implementation and corporate integrations, making this an excellent opportunity for someone who wants deep exposure to global payroll complexity while building expertise across key APJ jurisdictions.
Responsibilities
- Support end-to-end payroll operations for the Asia-Pacific region, ensuring 100% timely and accurate pay cycles across multiple countries including Australia, South Korea, Hong Kong, Japan, India, and Singapore
- Maintain data integrity as the source of truth for all employment records and verifications to support seamless internal reporting
- Conduct detailed compliance audits of payroll, benefits, and long-term incentive programs, identifying and implementing corrective actions
- Actively contribute to the implementation of a new global payroll system, gaining valuable technical implementation experience
- Support mergers and acquisitions by assisting with payroll and data integration of newly acquired entities
- Facilitate annual internal and external audits to ensure global compliance and risk mitigation
- Collaborate across time zones and departments, providing clear and proactive communication to build trust with stakeholders
- Research and stay current on evolving tax regulations and labor laws across APJ markets
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Human Resources, Finance, or related field
- 2+ years of experience in payroll, HR operations, or finance (ambitious recent graduates with strong internship experience in HR or Finance are highly encouraged to apply)
- Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Excel, specifically vlookups and pivot tables
- Meticulous attention to detail with a "measure twice, cut once" mentality when handling complex data across multiple currencies and tax jurisdictions
- Analytical mindset with the ability to identify patterns, conduct audits, and find process efficiencies
- Experience or strong interest in working with international teams and navigating diverse regulatory environments
- Entrepreneurial initiative and ability to work independently while understanding desired outcomes
- Strong adaptability and ability to remain calm and maintain confidentiality in a high-growth, transformational environment
- Collaborative communication skills with the ability to bridge gaps between departments and time zones
