Tech Lead Full-Stack Engineer (f/m/x)

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential geospatial analytics organization seeking a Tech Lead Full-Stack Engineer to drive the technical direction of their platform services. In this role, you'll lead a growing engineering team while remaining deeply hands-on, shaping architecture and building features that handle large-scale geospatial data processing across web, mobile, and backend systems.

This is a hybrid position based in Berlin, working within a collaborative cross-functional environment alongside product managers, designers, data engineers, and ML specialists.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and coordinate a team of backend, frontend, and mobile engineers while maintaining approximately 60% hands-on contribution
• Design and implement end-to-end features that efficiently render and query large volumes of geospatial data across browser, mobile, and server environments
• Architect performant API endpoints and backend services for both internal use and third-party integrations
• Build and extend features with strong attention to user experience and interface design
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams in temporary squad structures
• Shape team processes, engineering culture, and technical standards across the organization
• Handle complex business logic and integration requirements for a growing partner ecosystem

What We're Looking For

Required:

• Proven experience as a technical lead with a team-first mindset, understanding that product and people development take priority over individual contribution
• Strong backend development expertise with NestJS, Express, or Node.js in production environments
• Advanced proficiency in TypeScript and React (or equivalent component-based frameworks like Vue or Preact)
• Hands-on experience with mobile development, particularly React Native
• Track record working in codebases with established CI/CD pipelines and code review processes
• Demonstrated ability to navigate and contribute to systems you didn't originally build
• Active use of AI-assisted coding tools in daily development work

Preferred:

• Experience with spec-driven or test-driven development approaches
• Background in web-based geospatial or GIS applications
• Design sensibility sufficient to make interface decisions independently when needed
