Greene King is seeking an experienced Sous Chef to join the kitchen team at our Mayfair, Greater London restaurant. This full-time position offers the opportunity to develop your culinary leadership whilst working within one of the UK's leading hospitality groups.
About the Role
As Sous Chef, you'll take a central role in delivering consistently excellent food and managing kitchen operations across our Mayfair establishment. Working alongside the Head Chef, you'll oversee food preparation and service, maintain exacting standards, and lead the culinary team through each service period. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled chef to advance your career in a structured, professional environment in central London's hospitality sector.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Manage food preparation, cooking, and plating across kitchen stations
- Ensure consistent adherence to food safety, hygiene, and quality standards
- Lead, train, and support kitchen staff to achieve operational excellence
- Control food costs, portions, and inventory within your remit
- Prepare mise en place and coordinate kitchen workflow during service
- Contribute to menu development and quality assurance of new dishes
- Maintain kitchen equipment and identify maintenance requirements
Who We're Looking For
- Substantial experience working as a Sous Chef or senior chef position
- Comprehensive understanding of cooking techniques, food preparation, and kitchen management
- Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate or recognised equivalent
- Strong leadership and mentoring capabilities
- Ability to perform effectively under pressure during busy service times
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
- Genuine commitment to culinary excellence and professional development
