Head Chef

Greene King is hiring a Head Chef to lead our kitchen team at our Morden, Surrey location. This is a full-time position for an experienced culinary professional ready to deliver exceptional food and hospitality to our guests.

About This Position

As Head Chef at Greene King in Morden, Surrey, you'll take charge of all kitchen operations, from menu development to staff leadership. This full-time Head Chef role combines creative cooking with operational management, requiring someone passionate about food quality and team development who can work collaboratively to achieve our hospitality standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and develop the kitchen team, fostering a collaborative and professional environment
• Plan and execute menus that showcase quality ingredients and culinary creativity
• Oversee food preparation, cooking, and plating to consistent standards of excellence
• Maintain strict food safety and hygiene protocols in line with legislation and company policy
• Manage kitchen inventory, control food costs, and minimise waste
• Ensure kitchen operations run efficiently during service, managing time and resources
• Collaborate with management to achieve business objectives and customer satisfaction
• Train staff on cooking techniques, health and safety, and service expectations

Qualifications

• Proven experience working as a Head Chef or in a senior kitchen leadership role
• Extensive knowledge of food preparation, cooking techniques, and menu planning
• Level 2 Food Safety in Catering certificate or equivalent
• Strong leadership and people management skills
• Excellent communication and organisational abilities
• Genuine passion for hospitality, food quality, and creating memorable guest experiences
• Ability to work under pressure and meet operational deadlines
• Knowledge of health, safety, and hygiene regulations in food preparation
