We're seeking an experienced data engineer who thrives in dynamic environments where you'll build scalable systems from the ground up. This role offers significant autonomy and the chance to shape technical direction in a business-critical area.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain automated data pipelines designed for rapid expansion across new sources and markets
• Develop algorithms to extract structured information from websites and images
• Ensure data quality through validation frameworks, confidence scoring, monitoring systems, and clean integration points
• Manage and evolve the data infrastructure supporting a growing product vertical
• Serve as technical point of contact for cross-functional stakeholders
• Create internal tools enabling non-technical teams to collect and validate data independently
• Generate analytics and reporting for internal decision-makers and external partners

What We're Looking For

Required Experience:

• 6-8 years of software engineering and data engineering experience
• Proven expertise building automated data pipelines, web scraping systems, and image processing workflows
• Strong foundation in database systems and data modelling
• Fluent English; German is a significant plus

Technical Skills:

• Comfortable working across data pipelines, backend services, and frontend interfaces
• Experience with Python, PostgreSQL, RabbitMQ, Grafana, Metabase
• Familiarity with Pulumi, Kubernetes, AWS, and LLM APIs valued
• Strong engineering practices including testing, code reviews, and maintainable code

• Independent operator who can drive projects with limited engineering support
• Fast learner who asks the right questions when entering unfamiliar domains
• Pragmatic approach to balancing speed with precision based on business impact
• Detail-oriented regarding data quality; makes uncertainty levels explicit
• Proactive data-driven thinker who identifies patterns and recommends next steps
• Comfortable working primarily with business stakeholders rather than large engineering teams

This Role May Not Suit You If:

• You prefer working from predefined tickets within established systems
• You require daily collaboration with a large engineering team
• You're primarily interested in greenfield ML rather than data collection and quality work

Location & Work Arrangement

This position is available 100% remote within the EU or UK. Office access is available in Cologne, Berlin, or London if preferred. The organization follows an AI-first approach with modern tooling integrated throughout workflows.
