Member of Technical Staff (EMEA)

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential AI infrastructure organization seeking a Member of Technical Staff for their EMEA field team based in London. Our client operates one of the largest inference platforms globally, and this role offers the opportunity to build production-grade AI capabilities across the full stack—from inference serving to fine-tuning tooling.

This is a flexible position designed for exceptional builders at varying experience levels (3–10 years). You will primarily focus on building product rather than customer-facing work, though you're welcome to engage with deployments when it interests you. The role emphasizes first-principles thinking above all else: the ability to reason through unfamiliar problems from the ground up rather than relying on established playbooks.

Responsibilities

• Design and ship end-to-end product capabilities, from ambiguous requirements through production deployment
• Build capabilities on top of the serving stack, including routing, model controls, observability, and deployment-specific tooling
• Develop tooling around fine-tuning and post-training of large language models, covering data pipelines through evaluation
• Translate EMEA-specific requirements into product features, collaborating with core platform teams where boundaries overlap
• Set engineering standards for the regional team through exemplary code quality
• Leverage AI-assisted and agentic development tools as a core part of your workflow, applying judgment about when to trust automated output
• Optionally participate in customer deployments or technical conversations when valuable

What We're Looking For

• First-principles reasoning: Demonstrated ability to deconstruct novel problems and reason to solutions without reference implementations—this is the primary evaluation criterion and can outweigh other qualifications
• Software engineering excellence: Deep expertise in backend systems and infrastructure with a proven track record of shipping production systems you owned
• Technical proficiency: Strong coding skills in Python and at least one systems language
• AI-assisted development fluency: Active use of coding agents and AI tooling in your development process, with sound judgment about output reliability
• Domain interest: Genuine curiosity about inference systems and AI infrastructure
• Experience range: 3–10 years in software engineering roles
