Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential engineering organization in southwestern Germany seeking a Head of Structural Engineering and Design. In this leadership role, you will take responsibility for the technical and organizational management of the structural engineering department. You will coordinate team assignments, develop staff capabilities, and shape the future direction of the practice area while establishing clear responsibilities, unified working standards, and transparent technical protocols.

You will oversee and provide technical guidance for complex structural calculations, including assessment of governing loads, management of numerical simulations, and compliance with applicable codes and standards. You will balance technical quality with economically viable solutions throughout all project phases.

A core focus involves improving calculation methods and workflows. You will advance technical guidelines, drive appropriate automation solutions, and support the development of constructive design approaches. Through coordination with clients, external reviewing engineers, and internal departments, you will ensure clarity and reliable collaboration across all stakeholders.

What We're Looking For

• Master's or Diplom degree in Civil Engineering with specialization in structural engineering
• Several years of professional experience in structural design with strong foundation in structural analysis and design calculations
• Proven experience leading and developing technical teams
• Advanced proficiency with structural analysis software, numerical simulations, and finite element methods
• Confident command of relevant design codes and technical regulations
• Structured, analytical, and solution-oriented working approach with strong communication and organizational skills
• Fluent German and very good English language skills
