Lead Forward Deployed Engineer

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential fintech organization that is revolutionizing how financial institutions leverage AI technology. Our client is experiencing significant growth with enterprise customers, and we are searching for a Lead Forward Deployed Engineer to join their Berlin team.

This is a highly technical, customer-facing role where you'll lead the deployment of AI-driven solutions in production environments. You'll work directly with financial institutions to scope use cases, design architectures, and deliver production-grade AI applications while ensuring exceptional outcomes and rapid time to value.

Responsibilities

• Lead complex AI-driven deployments in production across multiple customer engagements, from initial scoping through stable production implementation
• Apply technical expertise and problem-solving skills to address real-world challenges for financial institutions through solution architecture design, decision logic development, and deployment of production-grade AI agents
• Effectively scope work, sequence delivery, and proactively remove blockers while balancing trade-offs between scope, speed, and quality to ensure timely project delivery
• Align with key customer stakeholders at both technical and business levels to ensure outstanding experience throughout the implementation lifecycle
• Partner with product management to translate customer needs into actionable product insights that influence the product roadmap
• Develop reusable resources, best practices, and tools to scale the forward deployed engineering function
• Coach and mentor junior Forward Deployed Engineers to support their development and success

What We're Looking For

Required qualifications:

• 6+ years of engineering or technical deployment experience including customer-facing work
• Strong technical background in Computer Science, Mathematics, Software Engineering, Physics, Data Science, or related field
• Production-grade Python and SQL experience with ability to write and review code
• Strong command of REST API design and integrations
• Excellent problem decomposition skills and ability to make well-informed decisions under pressure
• Proven ability to build strong relationships with both technical and business stakeholders at all levels
• Collaborative, curious, and low-ego approach to working across product, engineering, and go-to-market teams
• Customer-centric mindset with genuine desire to understand business needs and solve challenges
• Willingness to work from the Berlin office at least three days per week in a hybrid model

Preferred qualifications:

• 6+ years as a Forward Deployed Engineer, Solution Engineer, Implementation Specialist, or equivalent role within B2B SaaS
• Experience building AI applications within financial services
• Experience applying and optimizing statistical and machine learning models to solve business problems
• Familiarity with major cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
