Engineering Manager

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential enterprise AI company seeking an Engineering Manager to lead their verticals application team in Berlin. This is an exceptional opportunity to build full-stack AI-first applications for critical sectors including pharmaceutical, finance, and healthcare.

You'll manage a team of backend and frontend engineers, owning the application and user-experience layer while partnering closely with ML engineering teams. This role requires someone who can deliver secure, reliable systems that users can trust in high-stakes environments, balancing startup velocity with enterprise-grade quality standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage backend and frontend engineers, fostering collaboration and ensuring predictable delivery
• Act as the primary interface between Product and Engineering teams
• Transform product requirements into a technical roadmap and own it end-to-end
• Design, build, ship, and maintain scalable features for vertical applications
• Apply technical expertise to make practical decisions that balance velocity, depth, and quality
• Contribute across the stack to develop new features, fix bugs, and optimize performance
• Foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation within the team

What We're Looking For

• Experience managing engineering teams with proven conflict resolution skills and a track record of delivering high-quality software
• Experience working with non-technical product managers
• Have built, shipped, and maintained production-ready applications, including AI-first applications
• Strong coding skills and comfortable working across the full stack
• Experience deploying both cloud-based and on-premises applications
• Experience building AI products deeply integrated with agentic systems
• High agency—you don't wait for permission to solve problems
• Excellent communication skills in English
• Ability to work onsite in Berlin 4 days per week
