About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential workforce technology organization that is seeking a DevOps Engineer to join their remote team. Our client builds enterprise platforms that support government agencies and workforce development organizations across the United States. This role offers the opportunity to work on cloud-native infrastructure that powers mission-critical systems serving communities nationwide.

The position is remote with a preference for candidates located near Denver, Colorado.

Responsibilities

As a DevOps Engineer, you will build and operate cloud platform infrastructure while collaborating with software engineers, security professionals, and product teams. Your day-to-day work will include:

  • Designing, provisioning, and managing cloud infrastructure on AWS using Infrastructure as Code
  • Building, maintaining, and improving CI/CD pipelines to enable safe, reliable, and frequent software deployments
  • Deploying, operating, and troubleshooting containerized applications running on Kubernetes
  • Automating operational workflows and eliminating repetitive manual processes through scripting and infrastructure automation
  • Improving platform observability through logging, monitoring, metrics, alerting, and dashboards
  • Optimizing systems for performance, scalability, availability, security, and cost efficiency
  • Partnering with engineering teams to improve developer experience and deployment reliability
  • Participating in production incident response, root cause analysis, and continuous operational improvements
  • Implementing security best practices across cloud infrastructure, identity management, networking, secrets management, and application delivery
  • Supporting compliance initiatives for government-hosted environments, including AWS GovCloud deployments and security frameworks applicable to public sector software
  • Contributing as a collaborative member of an Agile Scrum team in planning, design discussions, and continuous improvement

Technologies you'll work with: Amazon Web Services (AWS & AWS GovCloud), Kubernetes (Amazon EKS), Docker, Terraform, GitHub Actions, Node.js/TypeScript, MongoDB Atlas, Amazon S3, IAM, Lambda, Secrets Manager, Route 53, CloudFront, Prometheus, Grafana, CloudWatch, OpenSearch, Linux, and Bash scripting.

What We're Looking For

Required qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
  • Experience designing and operating cloud infrastructure, preferably on AWS
  • Hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes in production environments
  • Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, or similar tools
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, CloudFormation, or similar technologies
  • Strong Linux administration and troubleshooting skills
  • Experience writing automation scripts using Bash, Python, JavaScript, or TypeScript
  • Understanding of networking fundamentals, cloud security, IAM, DNS, TLS, and secrets management
  • Experience implementing monitoring, logging, and observability solutions
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex distributed systems
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience operating production workloads in AWS GovCloud or other regulated cloud environments
  • Experience supporting applications that process sensitive or regulated data
  • Familiarity with security and compliance frameworks such as NIST, FedRAMP, GovRAMP, SOC 2, or CJIS
  • Experience with GitOps workflows and tools such as Argo CD or Flux
  • Experience supporting Node.js services and MongoDB in production
  • Experience optimizing cloud infrastructure for cost, scalability, and reliability
  • Experience working within Agile software development teams
