Cost Accounting Manager

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential technology organization seeking a Cost Accounting Manager to lead cost recognition processes, systems implementation, and reporting excellence. This is a strategic role for a qualified accounting professional who combines deep technical expertise with a passion for automation and scalable financial operations.

Our client operates across multiple countries and currencies, serving enterprise and technology markets globally. They prioritize distributed collaboration and meet in person several times per year for strategic alignment.

This is a home-based position within EMEA time zones, with optional access to a London office. The role reports to the Global Financial Controller.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Procurement, Commercial Systems, Operations, Legal, and FP&A teams to design and maintain scalable cost management, allocation, and reporting processes
• Drive process and configuration improvements in NetSuite and related systems for end-to-end automation of the cost life cycle
• Incorporate industry best practices, emerging technology, and AI to improve reporting speed and accuracy
• Review and evaluate the cost recognition impact of non-standard expenses
• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of cost accounting and systems accounting professionals
• Manage month-end cost close activities including reconciliations, fluctuation analysis, and reporting
• Develop and maintain effective internal controls over cost transactions and reporting
• Research and write accounting memos on significant cost recognition and policy matters
• Act as primary liaison with external auditors on purchase-to-pay matters
• Ensure compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements while managing cost accounting risks

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications:

• Undergraduate degree in Accounting or Finance
• CPA, ACCA, or equivalent professional qualification with excellent technical accounting skills
• Deep understanding of IFRS, particularly IFRS 16, IFRS 18, and rules related to SaaS and services
• Proven leadership or management experience
• Experience managing cost accounting processes and operational expenses in high-growth environments
• Experience with ERP and operational finance systems including procurement, expense management, and reporting platforms (NetSuite preferred)
• Multi-country, multi-currency operations and tax experience
• Professional written and spoken English
• Strong interpersonal skills, curiosity, flexibility, and accountability
• Result-oriented with personal drive to meet commitments
• Ability to travel twice yearly for company events up to two weeks

Valued Additional Experience:

• Public company reporting and revenue accounting experience
• Software implementation, integration, and user acceptance testing
• Software engineering qualification or experience
• Data analytics background
• MBA or other relevant business degree
