Group Financial Controller

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential global technology organization seeking a Group Financial Controller to lead and transform their accounting function. This is a strategic role for a finance leader who combines technical accounting excellence with a passion for systems innovation and process optimization.

Our client operates across 75+ countries with a distributed workforce model and is preparing for the next phase of organizational growth. You will report directly to the Chief Financial Officer and play a critical role in ensuring financial integrity while building scalable processes for the future.

This position is home-based within EMEA time zones, with an optional office base in London, UK.

Responsibilities

• Lead development and implementation of robust controls to mitigate financial and operational risks
• Drive policy and procedure frameworks that enable the business to scale efficiently while maintaining compliance
• Oversee weekly, month-end, and year-end close processes including balance sheet reconciliations, management accounts, and statutory reporting
• Ensure accuracy and completeness of all financial data recording and reporting to maintain strong accounting records
• Manage external audit processes and serve as primary liaison with auditors
• Monitor evolving regulatory requirements across multiple jurisdictions and ensure organizational compliance
• Lead finance systems upgrades and implementation projects, including appropriate AI adoption initiatives
• Support cross-functional change projects designed to enhance systems, processes, and data quality
• Manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders including customers, vendors, tax authorities, and advisers
• Mentor and develop junior accounting staff, promoting best practices and knowledge sharing

What We're Looking For

Required qualifications:

• Professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CPA, or equivalent)
• Extensive practical IFRS knowledge and application experience
• Advanced Excel skills with strong data analysis capabilities
• Proven experience with enterprise-level accounting or ERP systems
• Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills with ability to meet tight deadlines
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for engaging with all organizational levels
• Proactive, analytical mindset with genuine passion for finance and continuous improvement
• Result-oriented approach with personal drive to exceed commitments
• Ability to travel internationally twice yearly for company events (up to two weeks each)
• Exceptional academic track record from secondary and university education

Highly valued experience:

• NetSuite and Salesforce platform experience
• Big 4 accounting firm background
• Public company experience, particularly with public markets preparation
• Personal interest in software and technology industries
• Data analytics, AI, or software engineering background

Compensation details will be discussed during the screening process and are dependent on experience level and location within the EMEA region.
