Join Center for Youth Services as a Community-Based Prevention Counselor at our Loehmanns Plaza location in Monroe County. We're seeking a dedicated counselor to deliver direct support services that help young people and their families overcome challenges and build stronger futures.
About the Role
As a Community-Based Prevention Counselor, you'll provide accessible, compassionate counseling and support services to youth and families throughout Monroe County who are navigating life challenges. This full-time position plays a critical role in our mission to connect young people with the resources and guidance they need to thrive. We're offering a $1,000 sign-on bonus to qualified candidates.
What You'll Do
- Conduct individual and family counseling sessions tailored to each client's unique needs and circumstances
- Complete comprehensive client assessments and intake processes to develop personalized service plans
- Provide crisis intervention and supportive guidance during critical moments
- Maintain detailed, accurate case notes and client documentation in compliance with confidentiality standards
- Coordinate referrals to additional community resources and support services when appropriate
- Monitor client progress and adjust support strategies based on ongoing feedback and outcomes
- Collaborate with colleagues and partner organizations to ensure coordinated, comprehensive care
- Participate in prevention-focused outreach and community engagement activities
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in counseling, social work, psychology, human services, or related field
- Prior experience in counseling, case management, or youth services
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with diverse populations
- Demonstrated ability to build trust and maintain professional boundaries
- Cultural competence and commitment to equity and social justice
- Proficiency with basic technology and willingness to learn new systems
- Valid driver's license (may be required for community-based outreach)
- Relevant licensure or credentials preferred (LPC, LCSW, or certification in progress)
