Join Hrhs as a Substance Use Treatment Counselor at our Horizons Reno County location, providing compassionate, evidence-based counseling to individuals on their path to recovery. This is a full-time position dedicated to making a direct impact on client outcomes through personalized treatment and support.

Position Summary

As a Substance Use Treatment Counselor with Horizons Reno County, you'll deliver therapeutic counseling and evidence-based interventions to help clients address substance use challenges and build sustainable recovery. Working within a supportive clinical team, you'll play a central role in guiding clients through their recovery journey, from initial assessment through ongoing progress monitoring and relapse prevention planning.

What You'll Do

• Conduct individual and group counseling sessions using evidence-based therapeutic approaches
• Develop individualized treatment plans tailored to each client's needs, goals, and recovery stage
• Perform comprehensive assessments of clients' substance use histories, mental health, and life circumstances
• Monitor client progress, adjust treatment strategies as needed, and document sessions in accordance with clinical and legal standards
• Facilitate group therapy and peer support sessions that foster connection and mutual accountability
• Collaborate with psychiatrists, social workers, and other clinical staff to ensure coordinated, person-centered care
• Educate clients and families about recovery strategies, relapse warning signs, and community resources

Who We're Looking For

• High school diploma or GED; relevant post-secondary training or certification in substance use counseling, mental health, or a related field is strongly preferred
• Demonstrated experience or formal training in substance use treatment, counseling, or addiction services
• Strong listening, empathy, and communication skills with ability to connect with diverse populations
• Knowledge of evidence-based treatment models and recovery-oriented principles
• Commitment to ethical, confidential, and trauma-informed practice
• Willingness to work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary treatment team
• Ability to maintain detailed, accurate clinical documentation and meet deadlines
