About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential energy technology organization based in Berlin that is building next-generation metering and data infrastructure. Our talent team is seeking a Mid-Level Data Engineer to join their modern analytics and data platform initiative.

In this role, you'll work across the full data lifecycle—from raw data ingestion in a lakehouse architecture through automated data modeling to interactive dashboards and machine learning applications. You'll serve as a bridge between robust infrastructure, analytical reporting, and applied data science use cases.

Responsibilities

Lakehouse & Data Engineering (approximately 50%):

  • Design, build, and optimize performant pipelines using Databricks
  • Data modeling with dbt and orchestration of robust DAGs via Apache Airflow
  • Implement automated data quality checks, data lineage tracking, and cluster optimization

Analytics & Data Applications (approximately 25%):

  • Build semantic metrics layers and self-service BI capabilities in Lightdash
  • Develop interactive analysis tools and data apps using Python (Streamlit)

Data Science & Machine Learning (approximately 25%):

  • Conduct exploratory analyses, prototyping, and training of ML models (forecasting, anomaly detection)
  • Implement experiment tracking on Databricks and deliver results to business stakeholders

What We're Looking For

  • 2–4 years of hands-on experience in data engineering, analytics engineering, or comparable role
  • Strong practical knowledge of Databricks (Delta Lake, Unity Catalog), dbt, and Apache Airflow
  • Experience with Lightdash or similar code-based BI tools, plus Streamlit for data applications
  • Excellent SQL skills (performance tuning, complex joins) and strong Python proficiency (pandas, PySpark, scikit-learn)
  • Familiarity with Git/CI-CD workflows and modern data modeling concepts (star schema)
  • Pragmatic hands-on mentality with strong communication abilities
  • Very good German and English language skills required
