Senior Director, Legal & Compliance, OUS Regions

Responsibilities

Our client, a confidential biopharmaceutical organization, is seeking a Senior Director, Legal & Compliance for their European operations. Reporting to senior legal leadership, you will serve as lead legal counsel for expanding operations outside the United States, with particular focus on the European Economic Area, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom.

In this role, you will:

• Provide legal advice on product sales, promotion, and scientific communication – Deliver practical, timely counsel and training on compliance with healthcare laws across the EEA, Switzerland, and UK, including interactions with healthcare professionals, patients, and health authorities; market access and reimbursement; product distribution and promotion; and data privacy
• Oversee affiliate corporate governance – Maintain corporate governance records and registrations for all international affiliates
• Design and implement compliance programs – Develop and oversee the regional compliance framework, including policies, resources, and training to ensure business teams operate in accordance with legal and ethical standards
• Draft and negotiate contracts – Support negotiation of agreements with healthcare providers, vendors, and data suppliers to protect business opportunities, assets, confidential information, and intellectual property
• Coordinate with colleagues – Partner with cross-functional teams to deliver integrated legal and compliance guidance
• Manage external counsel – Build a network of trusted legal advisors and establish frameworks for engagement, coordination, budgeting, and oversight

What We're Looking For

Required qualifications:

• Professional legal qualification in a European jurisdiction
• 12+ years of legal practice in the EEA focused on healthcare regulatory and pharmaceutical industry law, including general healthcare/corporate compliance, business transactions, and governance matters
• Both law firm and in-house counsel experience
• Law degree or equivalent from a respected university
• Comprehensive knowledge of and compliance experience with pharmaceutical development and commercialization laws in the EEA, UK, and Switzerland

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to serve as a strategic partner providing timely, practical legal advice
• High emotional intelligence with collaborative influence skills

Location: This role can be based in Germany or Switzerland. Munich, Bavaria preferred.
