Engineering Manager (f/m/d)

About This Opportunity

We are representing a fast-growing B2B software company in the engineering and industrial technology sector. Our client is seeking an Engineering Manager to partner with their Chief Product & Technology Officer in leading organizational transformation and people development across their engineering teams. This is a high-impact leadership role based in Stuttgart, with flexible hybrid arrangements available.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the engineering execution and people leadership partner to the CPTO, translating product and technical strategy into clear team expectations and action
• Shape the engineering organization structure, aligning teams, roles, and capabilities with evolving product modules and company direction
• Lead complex organizational change initiatives including team restructuring, role redefinition, and stakeholder communication
• Set performance standards, deliver direct feedback, conduct meaningful performance conversations, and address underperformance consistently
• Build trust across technical and non-technical stakeholders by translating between executive, business, and engineering perspectives
• Identify capability gaps and determine whether to build, hire, redesign roles, or implement organizational changes
• Create accountability structures that drive speed without unnecessary process overhead
• Partner with the CPTO to surface engineering signals, challenge direction constructively, and convert decisions into executable change

What We're Looking For

• Proven experience in people leadership within software engineering organizations, with demonstrated success leading teams through organizational change
• Exceptional communication and listening skills with ability to adapt messaging for senior leadership, business stakeholders, and technical engineers
• Strong people leader comfortable with direct feedback, difficult conversations, performance management, and accountability
• Technical credibility to understand modern software architecture and engineering practices, engage senior engineers, and translate technical decisions into organizational implications
• Practical experience with organizational design, team structures, or capability development focused on aligning organization to product needs
• Comfort with ambiguity and ownership, including ability to test and adjust approaches without requiring complete playbooks
• Pragmatic change leadership combining high standards with empathy and willingness to make uncomfortable decisions
• Ability to work effectively within European time zones and influence without owning product, architecture, or technical direction
