About This Opportunity
Our talent team is representing a confidential federal consulting organization seeking a Financial Management Analyst I with strong expertise in accounting, internal controls, and financial analysis. This is an excellent opportunity to support critical government financial management operations while working primarily remote with periodic onsite requirements in Washington, D.C.
We are looking for a detail-oriented professional with at least 4 years of relevant experience who can perform hands-on accounting work, control testing, reconciliations, and financial analysis supporting federal internal control assessments and OMB A-123 activities.
Responsibilities
- Support planning and execution of federal internal control assessments and compliance activities
- Perform account analysis, reconciliations, general ledger review, and financial reporting support
- Conduct entity-level and major transaction cycle assessments and testing
- Gather, organize, and analyze financial data, accounting records, and supporting documentation for risk assessments and control testing
- Perform and document testing of financial and business-process controls, including design and operating effectiveness
- Develop and maintain internal control documentation including process narratives, flowcharts, risk-control matrices, and test plans
- Evaluate financial information for completeness, accuracy, trends, and potential control issues
- Identify and document control deficiencies, financial risks, and areas for improvement
- Track corrective action plans and validate remediation efforts with process owners
- Prepare audit-ready workpapers, schedules, reconciliations, and supporting documentation
- Assist with preparation of reports, briefings, and management assurance documentation
- Support audit-readiness activities and respond to auditor and stakeholder requests
- Coordinate with financial management, accounting, program, risk, and audit stakeholders
What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum 4 years of relevant professional experience (4-6+ years preferred)
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field
- Strong accounting and financial analysis knowledge and experience
- Experience supporting internal controls, financial controls, audit, or risk assessment activities
- Hands-on experience performing financial analysis, reconciliations, and control testing
- Experience with financial data validation and preparing control documentation
- Understanding of accounting principles, financial controls, and financial reporting processes
- Knowledge of OMB Circular A-123, FMFIA, GAO Green Book, or internal control frameworks
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to identify discrepancies and develop conclusions
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills for financial data analysis and reconciliation
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word and PowerPoint
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with excellent attention to detail
- U.S. Citizenship or Green Card (required)
- Must have lived in the U.S. for three of the last five years
- Ability to obtain Public Trust Security Clearance
- Must currently reside in the United States
Preferred Qualifications:
- Federal financial management or government consulting experience
- OMB A-123 program experience
- Professional certifications: CPA, CGFM, CDFM, CIA, or similar
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Flexibility to support varying workload levels

Pay
This is an hourly engagement. Compensation details will be discussed during the screening process and will be based on your qualifications, experience, and availability.
