Sr Supplier Quality Engineer I

We are representing a confidential technology manufacturing organization seeking a Senior Supplier Quality Engineer I to be based remotely in Vietnam. This role requires extensive travel (up to 80%) to supplier facilities across the APAC region and offers the opportunity to drive quality excellence across a complex global supply chain for precision-engineered products.

Responsibilities

• Conduct new supplier assessments and comprehensive quality audits at supplier facilities across APAC, evaluating manufacturing processes, quality systems, and compliance with established quality requirements
• Lead New Product Introduction (NPI) quality activities including validation of supplier NPI yield, FAIR/PPAP documentation, DFM/DFx reviews, PFMEA development, and Quality Control Plan implementation
• Collaborate with supplier partners to develop and maintain Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA) to identify and mitigate manufacturing risks through error-proofing and robust process design
• Assess supplier inspection capabilities (IQC/OQC/IPQC) onsite, generate inspection plans, and evaluate process capability studies including Cpk, Ppk, and Gage R&R analyses
• Establish quality goals and improvement projects, monitor yield rates, and drive suppliers toward consistent high-quality production with month-over-month improvements
• Monitor supplier quality performance metrics including DPPM, NCMR's, and SCAR's; facilitate periodic quality/business reviews to drive continuous improvement
• Implement supplier quality improvement initiatives including performance management forums, supplier certification programs, process improvements, and cost reduction efforts
• Ensure Critical to Quality (CTQ) characteristics and key process parameters are monitored for process capability through comprehensive Quality Control Planning

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications:

• Minimum 10 years of experience in problem-solving related to manufacturing of mechanical components including cast metal parts, molded rubber/plastic parts, cast ceramic parts, and machined/stamped parts
• Extensive experience with NPI processes and milestones, including deep understanding of Supplier Quality Engineering roles and key activities throughout NPI stages
• Strong knowledge of quality management system requirements (ISO9001, ESD20.20, IATF16949, IPC-1602, IPC-A-610 or comparable certificates)
• Minimum 5 years of experience conducting audits utilizing ISO9001, IATF16949, VDA 6.3, or comparable quality management systems
• Excellent data analysis, root cause analysis, and problem resolution skills with thorough working knowledge of QC tools and methods including PPAP, SPC, DOE, PFMEA, Control Plans, GR&R, Lean Manufacturing, DMAIC, and 8D Methodology
• Strong teamwork and collaboration abilities with capability to communicate effectively across all organizational levels and build productive supplier relationships
• Ability to work in highly dynamic environments, manage multiple priorities simultaneously, and react quickly to urgent situations
• Excellent time management skills with methodical approach to project milestone management
• Excellent written and oral communication skills in English
• Experience with statistical software such as QI Macros, Minitab, or JMP
• Willingness to travel frequently (domestic and international, up to 80%)
• Location: Remote in Vietnam with openness to candidates from Hanoi, Bac Ninh, Hai Phong, or Ho Chi Minh City

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or Materials Engineering
• Green Belt, Black Belt, CMQ/OE, CQE, or CSSBB certifications
