Lead Level Electrical Designer – Kiewit Power Engineering

Kiewit is hiring a Lead Level Electrical Designer to head electrical system design initiatives at our Lonetree, Douglas County office. This full-time, senior-level position offers the opportunity to drive design excellence on complex power generation projects while building and mentoring a talented engineering team.

About the Role

As Lead Electrical Designer at Kiewit Power Engineering, you'll own the electrical design strategy for engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) projects serving the power sector. You'll lead a design team through the complete development lifecycle, ensuring systems are optimized for performance, safety, and constructability. Your work spans electrical raceway layout, cable management, protection systems, and integration with mechanical, civil, and control disciplines—requiring collaboration across multiple engineering teams to deliver cohesive project solutions.

What You'll Do

• Direct electrical design teams in developing comprehensive raceway systems and routing strategies for power generation facilities
• Coordinate with engineering, procurement, and field teams to ensure design decisions support project timelines and budgets
• Establish electrical design standards and best practices across projects; mentor junior engineers in advanced design methodology
• Interface daily with mechanical, civil, and control engineering teams to resolve conflicts and optimize integrated system design
• Review and quality-check design deliverables; take ownership of technical accuracy and regulatory compliance
• Contribute to proposal development and conceptual design for new power projects

What We're Looking For

• PE or EIT licensure, or equivalent experience demonstrating advanced electrical design capability
• Proven track record managing design teams on power generation, infrastructure, or industrial EPC projects
• Deep expertise in electrical distribution, raceway systems, cable management, and motor control design
• Strong knowledge of electrical codes (NEC), IEEE standards, and NFPA requirements
• Proficiency with electrical CAD software and ability to lead design documentation efforts
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills; experience presenting technical solutions to clients and stakeholders
• Problem-solving mindset with the ability to balance competing priorities in a fast-paced project environment
