SRE Manager

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential blockchain infrastructure organization in their search for an SRE Manager to lead a technical team responsible for critical distributed systems. This is a remote role supporting a global operation.

Our client operates large-scale blockchain networks and infrastructure that serve developers, node operators, and applications across a decentralized ecosystem. The SRE team manages everything from development and test environments to production networks with 24/7 reliability requirements.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a team of experienced Site Reliability Engineers working across blockchain infrastructure
• Set technical direction for reliability practices including SLOs, error budgets, and incident response frameworks
• Oversee infrastructure spanning multiple stability tiers, from rapid-iteration test networks to production systems with on-call coverage
• Drive automation initiatives that eliminate repetitive manual work and improve operational efficiency
• Establish and maintain engineering standards for deployment pipelines, observability, and system reliability
• Conduct and facilitate blameless postmortems that result in meaningful improvements
• Support the professional growth and development of team members
• Collaborate across teams to ensure infrastructure meets the needs of diverse technical stakeholders

What We're Looking For

• Strong systems thinking with genuine understanding of distributed systems and large-scale infrastructure
• Experience leading or working in teams that practice SRE disciplines seriously, including proper use of error budgets and calibrated SLOs
• Track record of building teams that automate operational work rather than absorbing it manually
• Demonstrated success developing engineers, with team members advancing in their careers under your leadership
• Technical credibility with senior engineers, though you don't need to be the most senior technologist on the team
• Experience running effective postmortems that drive systemic improvements
• Comfort operating in novel technical domains; blockchain experience is not required, but openness to learning unconventional infrastructure patterns is essential
• Ability to thrive in a remote-first environment with a small, broadly-scoped team
