Role Overview

As Sous Chef at Greene King's Hillhead establishment, you'll play a pivotal role in the kitchen, supporting the Head Chef whilst managing day-to-day food preparation, kitchen operations, and team coordination. This is an opportunity to influence menu execution, mentor your team, and maintain the culinary standards that define Greene King's hospitality across Glasgow and beyond.

Responsibilities

• Oversee kitchen operations and food preparation, ensuring consistency and quality across all dishes
• Lead, supervise, and train kitchen staff, fostering a collaborative and professional environment
• Assist in menu planning and special event catering whilst supporting the Head Chef's vision
• Maintain strict compliance with food safety, hygiene, and health regulations
• Manage stock rotation, inventory control, and supplier relationships
• Conduct quality checks on all food and maintain presentation standards
• Cover kitchen duties during the Head Chef's absence and deputise as required

Skills & Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Sous Chef or senior kitchen role in a professional catering environment
• Strong culinary knowledge and proficiency across varied cooking techniques
• Leadership ability with proven experience managing and motivating kitchen teams
• Food Safety Level 2 certification or equivalent; commitment to ongoing health and safety standards
• Excellent communication and organisational skills
• Ability to work under pressure whilst maintaining quality and attention to detail
• Flexibility with shift patterns, including evenings, weekends, and bank holidays
