About This Opportunity
Our talent team is representing a confidential logistics organization that provides global supply chain solutions. We're seeking a Solutions Design Engineer to join their Houston, Texas operation. In this role, you'll support the preparation of proposals for new business opportunities, contract renewals, and operational re-engineering projects.
Responsibilities
- Provide engineering support for proposals, renewals, and re-engineering activities to support business growth and retention objectives
- Conduct data analysis, develop concepts of operations, and create design layouts for distribution center solutions
- Build engineering models and develop comprehensive customer proposals
- Work collaboratively with business development and program management teams to schedule, prepare, and submit proposals on time
- Support operational improvements and process optimization initiatives
- Incorporate sustainability initiatives into solution designs when appropriate
What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Operations Management, or related field
- Minimum 2 years of logistics and distribution experience designing, implementing, or launching new facilities and solutions
- Experience engineering distribution centers
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, data analysis tools, process mapping tools, Microsoft Excel, and PowerPoint
- Knowledge of warehouse management system (WMS) functionality
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with demonstrated ability to build relationships and work both independently and in team environments
- Ability to analyze complex problems and develop appropriate solutions
- Ability to travel domestically 10-15% of the time
Preferred Qualifications:
- Third-party logistics (3PL) experience
- E-commerce and omni-channel fulfillment experience
- Six Sigma and Lean certification
- Experience with warehouse automation applications
