Infrastructure Engineer (Equity-Based)

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential technology organization in its earliest build phase. Our client is developing foundational infrastructure systems with a focus on long-term sustainability and ethical design principles. This is an equity-based founding team role for someone who wants to help architect core systems from the ground up.

This position operates under the Slicing Pie equity model, where contribution directly translates to ownership earned. There is no cash compensation until the organization reaches break-even. This structure is designed for candidates who want genuine founding-team ownership rather than traditional employment.

The role is fully remote and open to candidates in the United States.

Responsibilities

You will design, build, and maintain the infrastructure that powers our client's applications and services. Working closely with engineering, data, and security teams, you'll ensure systems are scalable, reliable, secure, and highly available.

• Design, implement, and maintain scalable cloud infrastructure with a focus on fault tolerance and high availability
• Develop and maintain infrastructure as code using Terraform, with version-controlled repositories
• Manage cloud environments (primarily GCP) while optimizing costs and performance
• Architect solutions across compute, storage, networking, and security layers
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for automated deployments
• Support containerized application deployments using Docker and Kubernetes
• Implement secure infrastructure practices including IAM, network policies, and access controls
• Collaborate with security teams to enforce best practices and compliance standards
• Improve deployment reliability and release processes

What We're Looking For

Required:

• Strong experience with cloud platforms, infrastructure automation, and modern DevOps practices
• Proven ability to design and implement scalable, highly available systems
• Expertise in infrastructure as code (Terraform required)
• Experience managing GCP cloud environments
• Proficiency with CI/CD pipeline development and deployment automation
• Strong understanding of security best practices, IAM, and access controls
• Passion for improving system performance and developer productivity

Preferred:

• Experience with Kubernetes or container-based platforms
• Familiarity with monitoring tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, or Datadog
• Experience with serverless or cloud-native architectures
• Comfort working in early-stage environments where you help define processes and standards
