Solution-/IT-Architekt (m/w/d)

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential IT consulting organization seeking a Solution/IT Architect to take ownership of business-critical application architectures in complex system landscapes.

In this role, you will:

• Design and own solution and system architecture for mission-critical applications operating within grown, heterogeneous environments
• Translate functional requirements and non-functional quality objectives into sound technical decisions covering security, maintainability, scalability, availability, performance, and integration capability
• Analyze existing systems, identify technical risks and debt, and develop realistic target architectures with pragmatic modernization roadmaps
• Make context-driven technology decisions rather than following trends, evaluating architectural approaches, cloud components, integration patterns, and platforms based on actual trade-offs
• Stay close to implementation through prototypes, architecture spikes, code reviews, and collaborative work with development teams to ensure architectures function beyond diagrams
• Document decisions clearly, make trade-offs transparent, and provide orientation for developers, business stakeholders, and technical leadership
• Advance internal architecture and engineering standards, introducing new approaches like agentic engineering into productive project environments

What We're Looking For

• Several years of professional software development experience with proven architecture responsibility for complex production systems
• Hands-on technical skills with strong expertise in Spring Boot and Angular, plus modern web architectures
• Working knowledge of diverse architectural approaches and integration patterns—from modular monoliths and microservices to event-driven systems and API/platform architectures
• Ability to systematically capture and prioritize functional requirements and quality goals including security, availability, scalability, performance, and maintainability
• Solid experience with cloud architectures, containers, CI/CD, and operating distributed systems; ideally production experience with Azure, GCP, AWS, or OpenShift
• Capability to assess existing systems and codebases, surface technical risks transparently, and derive realistic target states with modernization strategies
• Broad knowledge of operational architecture principles such as Zero-Trust, Observability, Resilience, and Fault Tolerance, plus their impact on security, maintainability, and operational stability
• Precision in documenting architecture decisions using formats like Architecture Decision Records, C4 models, or comparable frameworks
• Ability to provide technical leadership to developers, advise stakeholders, and synthesize diverse interests into sustainable decisions
• Willingness to deeply understand new business domains rather than settling for technically elegant solutions that miss the actual business problem
